WIMISOM has launched an initiative to support journalists in producing impactful stories and programs on Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)
As part of WIMISOM’s ongoing awareness campaign to end FGM, this initiative aims to strengthen journalists’ storytelling capacity and promote greater community awareness of the harmful effects of FGM.
The first cohort of participating journalists will produce stories highlighting:
- The role of religious leaders and young female activists in FGM awareness raising
- How education has transformed girls’ understanding of FGM and its impacts on their health and future, and
- The effect of FGM on family breakdown
This initiative is part of the Empowering Community to End FGM through Mobilization and Awareness Raising project implemented with support from GIZ Somalia.
